It is almost time again! This year’s NTS will be held virtually on Friday, July 30th (4 pm - 6 pm, CST), and on Saturday, July 31st (8:30 am - 6 pm, CST). Registration is now available! This is a great opportunity for all students, regardless of rank, to participate in NTS. Typically, this is an event that students travel to Lansing, MI to train with Sensei Iha. This year will include international keynote instructors. We are fortunate that again this year everyone can participate in the exceptional training available through virtual NTS. For the Friday evening training, Gateway Shidokan Students will train together at the back of Vago Park, near the large pavilions, and we will have a potluck afterwards! Please register each member of the household that will be participating in the seminar. Discounted registration rates are available until June 30th, 2021. We look forward to experiencing this event with you!
NTS Shirts are available to order
We can now order or NTS t-shirts! Again this year, the seminar will ve held via Zoom on Friday, July 30th, and Saturday, July 31st. More details will be forth coming.

Important Mask Update
I have some important updates to relay to you. Maryland Heights Community Center has updated their mask requirements. As of yesterday, those who are fully vaccinated can forgo wearing a mask during karate class. Please note, fully vaccinated, per CDC definition, is 14 days after receiving the final vaccination dose. This is will depends on which type of vaccine you get. For those who are not fully vaccinated, a mask is still necessary while in the building.
In an effort to limit confusion and encourage continued compliance, I will continue to wear a mask during classes with younger students who are not yet eligible to receive the vaccination.
Below is the statement published by the Maryland Heights Parks and Recreation posted on their Facebook page.
“*EDIT - Both CDC and St. Louis County guidelines state that those that are not fully vaccinated remain at risk of contracting and transmitting the virus. To protect their own health and the health of those around them, those not fully vaccinated should continue to wear a face mask when in public around other people.
Per St. Louis County guidelines released Friday, May 14, the Community Center will amend operations beginning Tuesday, May 18. Changes to operations include:
Masks are not required for patrons who are fully vaccinated while on the fitness floor, indoor track, during group exercise classes, participating in a gymnasium activity or while in the indoor aquatic center.
Masks are required while entering or exiting the building as well as when moving to the locker room.
Masks are required for any youth or senior program that is not physical in nature (such as card games).
There is not a capacity limit on the building but patrons should observe social distancing of at least 6 ft. Because of social distancing requirements, some areas/activities still may not be accessible or available.
We ask that if you are feeling sick that you please stay home.
Reservations will still be made through MindBody for lap swim, group fitness classes and activities in the gymnasium.
All lockers in the locker rooms will be available.
The Senior Lounge is available by appointment only. Contact Nancy Whitener at (314) 738-2552 to make an appointment.
The Play Center will remain closed at this time.”
